About us
The Diabetes UK Brentwood group is one of over 350 voluntary groups situated throughout the UK.
Our goal is to provide support and educate people living with diabetes, as well as their family, friends and anyone else who is interested in knowing more about diabetes.
We encourage those interested to attend our group meetings which are a welcoming and social environment for people to discuss diabetes and its effects. Support and companionship are some of the simplest yet most important aspects of living with diabetes - this is why our group exists and we want to help in any way that we can.
Buddy System: Help and be Helped
Brentwood Voluntary Group offers a 'buddy system' by which a person diagnosed with diabetes Type1 or Type2, or a parent of a child diagnosed with the condition, can request support from someone who has diabetes and has experienced the initial traumas of diagnosis and living with diabetes. Although our buddies cannot offer medical advice, they can share their experiences and listen to help individuals to adapt to what will become a new lifestyle.
Talking things out is an easy, safe and cathartic way of dealing with diabetes and our ‘buddy system’ is a great way to provide/receive support outside of the group environment.
If you are interested in the buddy system, to give or receive support please contact our main line on the home page where we can provide you with more detailed information.
